REBECCA SPENCER (JEKYLL AND HYDE, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) co-starred as Jack’s Mother in the star-studded INTO THE WOODS at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. She had the honor to stand-by for the legendary Betty Buckley in GREY GARDENS at the Ahmanson Theatre in LA. She is a critically acclaimed Backstage Bistro Award winning recording artist and as Executive Producer has released three solo recordings distributed on the LML Music Label.
Rebecca is among the few that have been contracted to play two principal roles in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. She was first cast as Carlotta in DAS PHANTOM DER OPER - Hamburg, Germany Company, sung in German. Years later, Hal Prince welcomed her back to create the role of Madame Giry for both PHANTOM - the LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR, and to launch the 25th Anniversary World Tour in Asia. Rebecca has a long history as an original collaborator with JEKYLL AND HYDE. She created the role of Lisa (Emma) in the Alley Theatre World premiere and later returned as an original Broadway Cast Member, which gifted her a magical full circle to revisit and perform the role she had created. She later assumed the principal role of Lady Beaconsfield. She can be heard on many archival and first Cast Recordings.
From NYC to LA, now residing in Las Vegas, Ms. Spencer’s lyric-mezzo range is recognized nationally and internationally in the recording, cabaret and concert worlds for her signature contemporary art song, lyric driven interpretations that seamlessly fuse classical, contemporary and American Songbook composers. Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and is represented by Fire Starter Entertainment.
